The open access journal Language & Law (JLL) was established by Dieter Stein (Düsseldorf, Germany) in 2012. Along with the refoundation of the International Language and Law Association (ILLA) in 2017, Friedemann Vogel and Hanjo Hamann have transferred JLL to OJS and, as the new editor-in-chiefs, have restructured the journal as well as the editorial board.
The journal focuses on the interdependent role of language in law and society in its various facets. This especially includes theory of law and language, translation and intercultural issues, legal interpretation, law and literature, forensic linguistics, as well as applied issues like authorship attribution, language in the courtroom and computational aspects.
Furthermore, JLL is a contribution to a consequent open access policy with advantages on global accessibility, long-term archiving, citeability by Digital Object Identifier (DOI), certified registration in national data bases and catalogues, representation of multimedia components and a professional publication system.
Quality control is assured by a process of strictly doubly-anonymous reviewing.
